To support the discovery of a cure and improved treatments for childhood arthritis and related diseases and to increase public awareness of childhood rheumatic conditions.

Friends of CARRA strives for a day when all important and meaningful research in the field of pediatric rheumatology is well funded and that these diseases are understood and recognized by the general public as serious, painful and debilitating.

Friends of CARRA is a national non-profit fundraising organization established in 2005, to support the research efforts of the Childhood Arthritis & Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA). Pediatric rheumatologists Dr. Dan Lovell and Dr. Earl Brewer approached Mat and Kathy Whatley to establish Friends of CARRA in honor of their daughter Lacey, who suffers from Juvenile Arthritis.

Friends of CARRA's board is made up of volunteers, which helps ensure that the largest percentage of money raised goes toward our mission. Friends of CARRA raises money through private donations, grants and various grassroots fundraisers put on by parents and friends across the country. The money raised goes directly to CARRA to fund research and clinical studies to find the cause and cure for rheumatic diseases in children.
