The importance of research

One of the main missions of Friends of CARRA is to provide funding for research into the cure and optimal treatment for childhood arthritis and rheumatic disease. In general, funding for medical research comes from multiple sources including the National Institutes of Health, Arthritis Foundation, American College of Rheumatology Research and Education Foundation, The Wasie Foundation, pharmaceutical companies, and foundations like Friends of CARRA.

The pediatric rheumatologists of CARRA convene on a regular basis to decide what studies are most urgently needed in the field, and then collaborate to search for funding from these various sources of support. Friends of CARRA is dedicated to raising support so that as many of these studies as possible can go forward.

For more information, look for the ‘Current Studies’ at the CARRA website.
